Focus on Systemic Change

Core Work

These areas are the focus of work at Moʻo Strategies

Strategizing & Planning - Stubborn problems: Relentless commitment

We get into the human serving sector to make the world a better place. Many of the stubborn problems we need to address today persist because they are systems-level challenges: issues that require collective action for long-term resolution. Our experience will help you see around corners to anticipate challenges and use the best tools and resources realize succeed. We can help you to evaluate a systemʻs readiness for change, the resources at your disposal to create momentum, identify and engage with the stakeholders needed to drive change, design initiatives to implement change, and evaluate the process of systems change along the way.

Project Management - Implementing big ideas to solve big problems

Have you ever had an initiative that never got off the ground, and you could not figure out why? Big ideas need structured, disciplined, and facilitated support to get going. We support you to move projects forward, tend to the interpersonal dynamics within and across teams, manage day-to-day communication, administration, and logistics of the project, and create impactful results. Mostly importantly, we make even mundane work super fun.

Coaching - People are our greatest resource, but we often overlook team dynamics

The success of your initiative depends on the ability of team members, their peers, partners, collaborators, community members, employees, and employers to work together so that they produce impactful systemic change. We can get them through tough conversations, build structures for productive conflict, and nurture their relationships. Letʻs face it: itʻs not enough to have experience working with people. You need experience, solid options for conflict management, stellar communication support, someone to help you develop your emotional intelligence, and someone to help keep the teamʻs success at the center.

Advocacy & Research - Bringing big ideas to the public square

If your initiative can only go so far without public support, legislation or administrative changes, or advocacy campaigns, we can help you find the tools and relationships to connect your work to the public square. Donʻt let your big challenges hang out on the periphery when what you really need is a hot microphone and something to stand on. Moʻo Strategies will bring the mic and stool; you bring the compelling need for social change.

Leadership Development & Workforce Development - Intergenerational change through intergenerational capacity building

The problems we hope to solve didnʻt get this way overnight. It will take decades to realize change, and your work will need a constant stream of capable, experienced, ethical, and thick-skinned leaders and allies to see this work to the end. We can help you to develop leaders within your organization or work with community partners to develop new leaders. Letʻs work together to fill systems change work with talent.

Technical Assistance

Our technical assistance comes in two streams: support for administrative functions (planning, reporting, program evaluation, and logistical support) or thought partnership. People rarely start a nonprofit because they like the back-office duties, but lasting change efforts require a strong administrative backbone. Let us help you do the administrative work so that you can focus on changing systems. Thought partners are people who help us think through, around, under, behind, or over our toughest problems. Sometimes thought partners prevent us from getting in our own way. Trusted partnership is our speciality. We wonʻt let you off the hook for the work you need to do on yourself, but we will do everything we can to support your success.
